Frequently Asked Questions

How can therapy help?

Therapy helps people identify and understand their feelings and gives them the tools they need deal with current and future challenges. This can be done through various therapeutic techniques including but not limited Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address thought and behavior patterns, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for deeper work, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, and many others.

How long do people go to therapy?

People come to therapy for different reasons and different lengths of time. Some people come proactively to stay on track with their wellness and stay for years, whereas some people come to address specific issues, events, or life changes and stay for 3-9 months. We will work together to figure out what works best to meet your needs. My recommendation is to come more frequently to start to get a good foundation of progress, then to work slowly out in time. For instance, coming once or twice weekly to start, then every other week then every three weeks, etc. This helps to maintain your progress while we test your new learned skills and prevent any damaging backslide. If you are seeking faster progress, dealing with a crisis, or working on trauma, twice weekly is recommended.

What will we do in session?

Over the first few sessions I will ask you comprehensive questions about your life, starting from the very beginning. Often times, our negative core beliefs are created in our childhood so we start with finding the root causes. Once we uncover our targets, we set goals for growth and start in on the work.

What types of therapy or strategies do you use?

I use a tailored approach to each client and tailor your plan to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassionate Inquiry (CI). I usually will be asking you questions (Socratic method) to draw out your insights, which we examine and challenge.
